Haze Craze

HELP!! STOP IT!! GASP....It's suffocating....For the past 2 weeks or so, the haze came back to haunt Singapore like it did almost a decade ago. This latest hack, slash and burn is causing so much uproar in the region. I myself hated it because not only it disrupts the environment, but it's bad for your health and overall being.

IT'S BEEN A WHILE! How's everyone doing? I know I've been missing for a long time...And as much as I missed most of you, I have bottled a lot of things inside of me and I think it's a good time and place to let it all out...

The past month has been really hectic. It comes in bits and parcels of a working life and a lonely dude. Yeah...getting all sappy, but don't blame this dude right here. Just plying his time in this dynamic world which is ever-changing. So, end of the month in September I had a 20-hour work day! YES! 20-hour if you believe me! It's the year-end closing for my company's financial year, so we had to do a proper stock "count" and yes it's literal counting of parts which numbered to the tens of thousands. After counting, we had to do tags which was basically to confirm on the stock location that the quantity matches to what we counted. All this manual labour included writing the quantity on the tags....And believe me guys...it's worse than detention or any punishments because you're literally scribbling thousands of pages with numbers!! And luckily we managed to finish at abt 4 AM and the sun has not risen for the day!

Nonetheless, out of work life, I'm starting to find a growing number of friends again here in Singapore which I have been hanging out more often. One member of the BC gang is back to Singapore to ply his trade. I think he's got quite a good spot in what he's doing now. He enjoys it and I'm happy for him. Great job bud, and I sure look forward to hang out more often with u, if your gf dun mind of course! :D

Also, this long-lost primary school friend. I mean it's hard to find or should I say re-connect with one of your long-time ago friend. I will try to locate and re-connect with more of them as time goes. I am glad to say she's also got her work cut out and I'm wishing her all the best in what she does. Working in Singapore is never easy and I guess you have to be patient and ignorant of the rants they give you. I had to experience it first-hand and absorb the inferiority for the times I've spent in my field of work. But now I'm enjoying it and loving it. Nah....I'm being sarcastic in saying that I love it. But I get to learn a lot of this industry and the players. It's very interesting and you meet with obstacles that I'm sure you appreciate in the future that you faced it earlier on in your career.

Enough about work....Lately, I caught 2 movies which were rather disappointing to my high-standards according to certain someone from up North!! Hahaha...no offense there dude. Well, first of all Miami Vice. I heard a lot of good vibes for this movie. Especially with the ever-enchanting beauty of Gong Li. She has all the creds for this movie (as reportedly stole the show from the boys...and she does it amazingly). But Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx are straight up BAD! And so are the vices...It makes me think Miami is so happening....But I can never adapt to that kind of culture. I'm subtle and I don't think the kind of life is suitable for me....other than the fast and furious cars and beautiful babes.... HA! BLAME ME FOR BEING A GUY!!

Anyway, the movie was too "reel" and it made a feeling that you're watching a reality TV movie. Maybe we are naive in believing the syndicates are that powerful, but damn, they are real mean baddies with that Eastern/Middle European connections. I wouldn't wanna be tangled up in any of those. The shooting scene is very lame and I doubt that it was very nicely coreographed. I give it a 3 out of 5 mostly because Gong Li is so very good as the heroine/villain of the story. I don't think it made sense did it? GIMME THAT FERRARI GOD DAMMIT!

Then the other movie I went for was the Departed. I was biased against this movie because I appreciated the HK's Infernal Affairs very much. And to think Leo DC and Matt Damon could actually replace/re-enact the charismatic characters produced by Andy Lau and Tony Leung? Not in a million years!! Although I agree Jack Nicholson was more gangster than Eric Tsang, no less the henchmen and minions are more ruthless in HK especially great performance by Chapman To. Oh and of course I think Cate Blanchett and Kelly Chen are comparable in their hotness and sexyness....too bad Kelly didn't take off her clothes like Cate did. Oohhh and where's Sammi's character in the Departed? It's not supposed to be Cate that is dating Matt Damon. Hehe....and they didn't have the younger Andy Lau and Tony Leung which are great choices in selecting Edison Chan and Shawn Yue. I think Leo and Matt would be better playing these roles while the older and grown-up ones are played by like Tom Cruise/Brad Pitt or Pierce Brosnan and Antonio Banderas. Haha...dun laugh at my selections of actors. It would also help that the psychiatrist is played by the gorgeous Jennifer Connelly.

Anyway, the story didn't really flow since it skipped a lot of the transition of the "rat" and their roles in police/hood. But they had a lot of conversation and the dry humour does lit up the otherwise boring movie. I think Mark Wahlberg did a good job playing the good bad cop! Hahaha...and did I miss anyone else? Ahh...that fat black dude (not trying to be racist here) but I think he's so out of place in the movie. Can't they find a much better person playing the side role? Haiz...so much complain...I'm so sucked into this Singapore culture....I hope I don't get transformed to be the "rat" here!

Haha...I am so waiting for Death Note now...I loved the comic for it's great story and development of human nature given the god-like powers. But I don't know how the movie will turn out. Well, be ready to churn out that $10. I mean I don't earn much, but if I keep spending money on things that don't worth it, it's gonna start to pile up ain't it?? hehehe....

To wrap things up, I hope to hang out more with my long-lost friends and of course the current ones. I apologize if my current life schedule does not permit me to spend more time with them or to initiate the conversation be it MSN or e-mail. I don't usually draw the first blood, but once you hooked me up to it, I'll be yours. To lend a helping hand, ears, nose, legs, any parts of my body as long as it's still reasonable and within the limit. I know it's going to be my downfall in the future, but that's just my nature and I know those who call me friends know me well enough to take on that advantage!! Hahaha...just kidding mates.....take care and see you at the next updates.

In the meantime, enjoy the Deepavali and Hari Raya or as they call it here in Singapore Happy Deepa Raya!!

Ciao...
